Measure the bores before ordering standard
Standard pistons only suit an engine whose bores are still at their original diameter — a fresh block, or one that has been sleeved back to standard. An engine that has already been rebored needs the matching oversize.
Have the block measured for wear and taper first. If it has been bored before, the oversize is usually stamped on the piston crown or the block; tell us what it reads and we will quote that size instead.
What goes with a piston set
Rings, small-end bushes, big-end and main bearings and a full gasket set are the usual companions. We quote them alongside so the engine goes together in one go rather than waiting on one missing line.
Check ring gap in each bore before assembly and fit the pistons the right way round — the crown markings matter on a diesel, where valve pockets and the combustion bowl are not symmetrical.
