A cable drive, not a linkage

This system drives the wiper wheel boxes through a flexible rack inside a conduit rather than through the rods and ball joints a later vehicle uses. The motor and its cable are supplied together because they are matched to each other.

Wipers that move slowly or stall in the middle of the screen are as often a seized wheel box or a kinked conduit as a failed motor. Disconnect the rack and turn each wheel box by hand before ordering.

Check the earth and the switch first

These are inexpensive faults with expensive symptoms. A corroded earth on the motor body or a worn wiper switch gives slow, intermittent or dead wipers that look exactly like a failed motor.

Feed the conduit and rack in carefully, without forcing the bend. A crimped conduit binds the rack and will burn out a new motor the same way it did the old one.
